This course is from The University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia, and is the complete video recording of lectures in progress. It is free to download to everyone everywhere regardless of whether you have an iTunes store account or not. I have gone through 25 out of 46 available lectures till now and I find it really excellent with the tutor keeping the students very interested in the stuff being taught while maintaining a real interactive note throughout. @julie:
Game programming is of course very exciting but at the same time it is very challenging. I will suggest that he starts learning with C programming, which will build his basics. In-fact the above course is an excellent start up to learn C. After C, he may choose to learn C++ or Java, the former being a very popular game programming language. To write a high level game, various custom scripts and languages are there but programming using those is only possible once a person is highly proficient in C and C++.
