Something is wrong when I do it.
I copy and paste it into the terminal then press enter.
I type in my password, then it asks for my password again. I type it in and it says -

-:bash: a**********s: command not found

(The bit with the stars is my password...)
So what am I doing wrong?

The thing is I can't find x11 anywhere on my computer but Im sure my brother downloaded it for GIMP. Well, now GIMP wont work and neither will this x11. Even when I try to reinstall it...

"newer version already installed"

If ANYONE can help me that would be great. I am stuck with this and I have no clue what to do!

It's checking against your version of OSX. Higher than 10.4 and it says there's a newer version. No quick fix that I can figure out... I'd just reinstall OSX if it bothered me that much.

I too have run into this "newer version" problem. Am I to guess that there's some sort of log that the installer is looking at? If so, how does one go about fixing this? Please give step by step instructions. Thanks!

Adam, did you manage to solve the complete unistalation of X11 so to be able to install it again from apple avoiding the 'newer version already installed" problem?
Thanks,
Alejandro

Don't do it! It'll make it so that you can't reinstall it from the web. I'm not sure what the best method is for COMPLETELY removing X11, but this method now keeps me from re-installing X11 from the Apple website, because the installer thinks the other version is still installed.
