In a network system, connecting to your Windows PC from the Mac is a real easy process.
First you have to make sure that the folders you want to access are being shared from the Windows PC. On a PC, a folder can be shared by right clicking the icon, selecting the properties option and then the sharing tab.
If your Mac is connected to the network, then in the Finder menu, click ‘Go’ and then ‘Connect To Server’.
In the address bar, type in the name of the PC you want to connect to prefixing it by smb:// and then click connect.
You could connect to the PC either as a guest or as a user by entering the user name and password.
On clicking connect, a window will show you the list of available folders on the host computer.
You can also browse the available shared folders by selecting the PC name from the Shared option in a Finder window.

Despite my best efforts, I have never been able to setup a network using Windows. It just never seems to work out. I have had to just use PC remote access software. Still, I can’t complain, the program I use works great and couldn’t be simpler.
Thank you!
Everything worked as you said.
Thank you! This was extremely helpful. It worked the first time.
can we make screen sharing between mac to pc? Cause macos x has screen sharing option too. is it possible between Mac and PC?
Thanks !
It did not work
WHAT’S THE USER NAME AND PASSWORD FOR THE PC SERVER ? I HAVE A HOMEGROUP PASSWORD, BUT DIDN’T WORK
Thank you!
I get connected. But when I try to open the shared folder I get: The volume could not be mounted.
What I´m doing wrong?
I did everything as described and was able to get to the point it asks for user and password of the Windows computer.
I type it correctly, but can not get thru this window.
It bounces as if the password is wrong or something, but I am sure it is correct since I tried a million times.
Could it be a missing port assignment on the router? PC firewall is off completely.
Regards
I’m with Abdul here. WTF is the username and password?
